Your Front Door to Create, Grow, and Scale a Business
Most people don’t come to me asking for a service.
They come because something is shifting.
Sometimes it’s a job that no longer fits.
Sometimes it’s a business that has outgrown its original structure.
Sometimes it’s simply the quiet realization that what worked before won’t work forever.
After years of conversations with business owners, professionals, and families, I’ve noticed a pattern: nearly every situation eventually lands in one of three places.
You’re trying to Create, Grow, or Scale a business, and EVERY business goes through these cycles.
This page exists to help you sort that out — without pressure, without hype, and without needing to have everything figured out first. The events described further down have the same purpose — to give you resources to freely learn about options and even to experience how they might work. A key purpose of Knabb Consulting, Network in Action Memphis/Virtual is to give families MORE CHOICE and to provide ways to them to make well-informed choices at that!
The next KCNIA 5 events can be found on this site page (About > Events). All public events can be found listed on this Eventbrite page (Like, Follow, Share).

When People Are Ready to CREATE
CREATE conversations usually start long before a decision is made.
Someone is curious about business ownership.
They’re researching franchises late at night.
They’re trying to understand whether independence could actually work for their family — or whether it’s just a distraction.
CREATE work is not about convincing someone to buy a business.
It’s about slowing the process down enough to ask better questions:
- What kind of work actually fits this season of life?
- How much structure is helpful — and how much is too much?
- What risks are acceptable, and which ones aren’t?
For some people, CREATE involves franchise research and structured cohorts.
For others, it’s a handful of focused conversations that bring clarity quickly.
There is no single right path here — only informed ones.

When Businesses Need to GROW
GROW conversations usually come from people who are already in business — and tired of feeling like they’re doing it alone.
Growth doesn’t stall because people stop working hard.
It stalls because they run out of perspective.
Referrals dry up.
Decision fatigue sets in.
Good opportunities go unexplored because there’s no trusted place to think them through.
This is where curated business communities like Network in Action (NIA) fit.
NIA is not casual networking.
It’s a structured environment designed to help business owners:
- Build stronger referral relationships
- Think more clearly
- Make better decisions faster
- Avoid learning everything the hard way
- Save valuable time while you do it
Some people join because they want growth. Others join because they want sanity. Still others join because NIA and NIAX provide options that respect a business’s available time.
All of these reasons are valid.
Suggestion – See How GROW Works thru NIA/NIAX: Use the Event Links above to Register for the Business Networking Social, usually held in the 3rd or 4th week each month. There will also be an Online social that will feature 10-minute breakout sessions. VISIT THE GROW PAGE TOO.

When It’s Time to SCALE
SCALE is different.
This is where owners already have momentum — but know that adding more effort won’t produce better results.
SCALE conversations often involve:
- Adding or stacking businesses
- Preparing for expansion
- Fixing structural issues before they become expensive
- Thinking seriously about leverage, not just revenue
This work is quieter.
More strategic.
And usually happens before anyone else knows it’s happening.
SCALE doesn’t reward speed.
It rewards clarity.
Suggestion – Explore CREATE Conversations: Use the Event Links above to Register for the free, monthly, “Create Grow & Scale” webinar to get an overview of the three business cycles and to experience a networking breakout and a group problem-solving exercise. VISIT THE SCALE PAGE TOO.
How People Actually Engage
Not everyone becomes a client.
Not everyone joins a group.
And that’s intentional.
Some people:
- Attend free monthly sessions to get oriented
- Have a single conversation and move forward confidently
- Join as a free affiliate partner
- Work together more deeply
- Or simply make introductions for others
All of those roles matter.
This ecosystem works best when people engage in the way that fits them — not the other way around.
Save the link to the Events Page on this site and the KCNIA Eventbrite Page to stay current on upcoming sessions.
Suggestion – Even if none of these options are right for you just now, consider introducing good people and trustworthy businesses via the Google form or Affiliate site linked below. All NIA and NIAX members go through a professional background check, so Cath Knabb of Knabb Consulting/ Network in Action Memphis/Virtual is always seeking to meet trustworthy business owners.
A Simple Next Step
If you’re not sure where you fit yet, that’s normal.
The easiest place to begin is with a conversation, a workshop, or an introduction — something that gives you clarity without commitment.
You don’t need to know the right answer today.
You just need a place to start:
- Save this eCard to your phone so the free events are always close at hand: https://viewinfo.me/#/t/cathknabb
- With the eCard, share back your own contact info, and text any questions you have.
- This “Who I Need to Meet” survey (Google Forms) is another way to communicate the kinds of people you need to meet.
- Use this Google Form to make introductions (from anywhere) or, if in Memphis, use this NIA form to become an affiliate partner to the NIAX group. Some of the referrals could result in a rev share paid to the account you establish.
Your information is respected. It is only used for making great-fit introductions and for the KCNIA business communications.
